Mice Tips: By a Housewife
65Mice Troubles
People who live in a country setting are more likely to have a mouse problem. As I should know. My family has experienced mice for quite awhile now. We have tried many of thing to get rid of them or to keep them away. According to the internet, (as I will give you some advice on that later). I have tried sprays, traps, plugging holes, and other things. I will talk about them.
Eliminating Holes
You need to start by eliminationg holes in and around your house. Holes that are 1/4" or more bigger. Do this by looking in you cabinets in the kitchen where they are more likely to show up. If you have any, that are easy to get to, take some steel wool and put it in them. Mice can't stand chewing on it, so they won't go through there. Check everywhere, under the sink by the pipes. Even by diswasher hoses, and piping. In some older homes, behind stuff may have holes in the walls - make sure they get fixed. When done with the kitchen, make sure you check under bathroom sink. Also check cluttered closets they sometimes will fine the smallest hole that you would not think they would.
Ideas: Tried on Mice
These are some of the things I have tried myself. On the internet I found some things that worked and some that didn't work. Here is one that works: Mice have an and intolerance to vitamin D - too much will kill them. So I tried this, and I took some Liquid Vitamin D-1000 broke it open and mixed it with a little peanut butter, on a lid. Well this one works I found the dead mouse. The only downfall about this is if the mouse dies somewhere and you can't find it. So I started to try other things.
Now I found a spray mixture of equal parts of oil, hot sauce, and garlic powder. But it was a little too thick to spray and kept clogging the sprayer. So I did add a little water to get it to spray. It was sprayed behind things to keep them away from areas but, it didn't work. I found this out by spraying the mixture on a lid from a jar. But the lid was licked clean later. So I would not recommend this.
Next thing I tried, was found on the internet too. Someone had a blog that said use Bouce Dryer Sheets in drawers around the house, because they hate the smell. But this just seems to make my clothes smell good. I am not to sure about the mouse thing. You will have to try this for yourself.
What Works Best For Mice Elinination:
In conclusion of how to get rid of mice from your house. I recommend filling all holes around your house 1/4" or bigger, so the mice can't get in. Then I recommend getting certain a type of trap that worked for me. It is called Jaws... thats right, Jaws. I purchased it at a local lumber yard. They are easy to set. You just need a little peanut butter and then squeeze them to set it, and put where mice are seen. Then once a mouse is caught, they are easy to get rid of. Pick it up and squeeze it into a garbage can and then reset it to use it over. I like them and they work great!
So I hope this helps people out, and happy de-micing.....
